Yad Eleizer
The Yad Eleizer foundation is focused on providing meals to the hungry children of Israel. While other families celebrate the holidays these children from poverty stricken homes go hungry and Yad Eleizer puts a focus on ending their hunger. Yad Eleizer is Israel's largest poverty relief agency. The Weisel family of Jerusalem began Yad Eleizer in their kitchen in 1980. This charity began as a gift basket to a neighbor who did not have enough money to feed her children. Yad Eleizer quickly grew to baskets being delivered to hungry families all around the town. Since its beginning in 1980, Yad Eleizer has grown to encompass nineteen primary economic and social service programs. These programs help thousands of people monthly. Yad Eleizer is comprised of over 12,000 volunteers and 96% of their funds that are raised go to feeding hungry families.
